Ribonucleotides: the building blocks of RNA

RNA, or ribonucleic acid, is a polyribonucleotide, formed by 3'-5'-phosphodiester bonds between ribose nucleosides (ribonucleosides).

Let's see as an example one of those monomers, the AMP ribonucleotide. The difference between this and the deoxyribonucleotide , a component of DNA, is the OH at 2'.

Quiz:

Locate the 2' OH group; to do so: 1) highlighting;
2) click on the 2' oxygen atom (you can remove the highlight clicking again);
3) your answer
